Fire Protection

The topic of fire safety in railway vehicles has greatly grown in significance in past years. Since the safety level for railway vehicles has increased in this area, the requirements for fire safety have also greatly risen in response. Special requirements are set regarding fire safety for both the engine room with its control cabinets and various other equipment pertinent to safety inside and outside the vehicle as well as for the driver's cab and the passenger area. Here, quick detection of fire and an appropriate level of fire protection in the vehicle is crucial in order to guarantee a high level of fire safety for the passengers, the locomotive driver and the train personnel. On the European level, for border-crossing transport it is necessary to enforce and harmonize the various national fire-safety requirements for railway vehicles of various European countries at the same time.

Some of our employees are specially trained for this field due to the increased complexity of requirements for fire safety in railway vehicles. We offer you the following services:

• Determining and compiling of all European and national technical requirements for fire safety (e.g. for tendering)
• Preparing a dossier for submission to the EBA (German Federal Railway Authority) concerning the putting of vehicles into service.
• Preparing a technical appraisal of fire safety
• Preparing and appraising fire-safety and evacuation concepts
• Preparing an all-encompassing assessment/ summarizing evaluation incl. a chapter titled "Fire Safety" for the Technical Supervision Authority (TAB) for the sake of the approval process.
